BONALBO
Bonalbo is a lifestyle away from the hustle and bustle of larger centres, providing a relaxing atmosphere.
Bonalbo is in the heart of the Upper Clarence River area. The name Bonalbo comes from an Aboriginal word for the local bloodwood tree. The village was established in 1910 on the banks of Peacock Creek to service the timber, dairying and beef industries, with blueberries, seed production and agricultural research now leading diversification and providing employment for locals and backpackers.
Travellers and day visitors will experience stunning scenery on the drive in from the coast or Southern Queensland. A visit to the bronze dog statue, marking Bonalbo as the birthplace of working cattle dog trials, is a highlight. The statue stands in an RSL Memorial rose park in the centre of the village. A swimming pool, golf course, hotel, bowls club, friendly caravan park, state-of- the-art health facilities, BBQ areas, bushwalking areas and all major services make Bonalbo the ideal place to visit or live.
