Lions Road has reopened (after repairs from 2022 floods and landslides), but drive carefully to current road conditions. Remember that motorhomes and vehicles towing caravans ARE NOT permitted on this road to windy hairpin sections, which can make it very difficult if you meet with oncoming traffic as there is nowhere to turn around or reverse.
Andrew Drynan Park is situated on Running Creek, 47km south of Beaudesert and 19km from Rathdowney on Running Creeks Road, Qld side of the Lions Road. The drive from Brisbane will take a couple of hours. It has an impressive backdrop formed by Mt Chinghee. The park is divided by Lions Road, and care should be taken with children. Running Creek is a lovely flowing creek that is very inviting in summer, and the park offers a great bush camp among the tall trees. As some of the pools are deep, children should be supervised.
Toilets, BBQs, picnic tables and swimming are provided. BYO drinking water. Pets are to be restrained. No showers — a dip in the creek will keep you clean, but please don’t use soap or detergent.
Directions: At Rathdowney, turn left into Running Creek Road and travel approximately 17km southeast.
The Camping area has a local park Manager; contact Barry Moran on 0755441281, to collects the fees.
