FILM SCREENING | THE PLASTIC COUNTRY
The Plastic Country is a character-led investigative journey following filmmaker Kal Glanznig as he travels across Australia to uncover the true scale of the plastic crisis.
Plastic Country follows young Australian ocean advocate Kal Glanznig on a journey across the country, investigating the growing impact of plastic pollution on our wildlife, ecosystems and human health.
From remote coastlines and wildlife hospitals to Parliament House, the film reveals how plastics have found their way into almost every corner of our environment and, increasingly, our own bodies. But it's not all doom and gloom. It also explores practical solutions and the changes needed to tackle plastic pollution at its source.
Following the screening, we'll turn our attention to local concerns, particularly the use and disposal of agricultural plastics such as silage wrap. What happens to all that plastic once it's served its purpose? What are the consequences for our soils, waterways and wildlife? And what practical alternatives or better disposal options might be available?
It's an opportunity to explore a growing environmental problem and consider what we can do about it here in the Kyogle district.
Kyogle Environment Group (KEG) will show the documentary film, The Plastic Country, at the Kyogle Memorial Institute Banquet Room on Saturday, 7 November.
It will run from 10-11.30am and entry is by donation.
