Lions Road Tourist Drive

A classic Tourist Drive, the Lions Road is one of the most popular drives on the Australian East Coast.

This remarkable monument to community spirit and Aussie grit was designed, surveyed and constructed by volunteers from the Kyogle Lions Club and their cross border counterparts after government support for the project was refused.

Decades of hard work, overcoming obstacles ranging from the steep terrain to interested politicians led to the Lions Road as we know it today. This striking drive through the Border Ranges to Queensland’s Scenic Rim is a must for those in a car, motorcycle or even on a pushbike, although the narrow, winding nature of this drive makes it unsuitable for trucks motorhomes or towed vehicles like caravans or camper trailers.
