SUMMARY:National Volunteer Week | May 18 - 24
DESCRIPTION:  \nNational Volunteer Week is Australia’s largest annual celebration of volunteering!\nEstablished in 1989\, National Volunteer Week is the premier celebration of volunteers and volunteerism in Australia and provides an opportunity to say thank you to the millions of Australians who volunteer. \nIt serves two primary purposes:\n1. Highlighting the crucial role volunteers play in our communities\n2. Encouraging new individuals to experience the rewards of volunteering \n2026 THEME | Your Year to Volunteer\n  \nYour Year to Volunteer honours the contributions of volunteers and invites people across Australia to make 2026 a year of meaningful involvement\, in ways that work for them. \n2026 is the United Nations International Year of Volunteers for Sustainable Development (IVY 2026)\, recognising the vital role volunteers play in building sustainable\, inclusive communities worldwide. National Volunteer Week 2026 supports IVY 2026 by amplifying the voices of volunteers\, celebrating their contributions\, and encouraging action to help volunteering thrive across Australia. \nThis year is a moment to thank those who already give their time and to invite others to discover how volunteering can create connection\, purpose\, and lasting positive change. \n

SUMMARY:National Reconciliation Week | May 27 - June 3
DESCRIPTION:National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories\, cultures\, and achievements\, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.\nAll In for National Reconciliation Week 2026\nThe theme for National Reconciliation Week 2026 is All In\, a call for all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation every single day. \nAll In makes clear that reconciliation is not a spectator sport and that all of us must step away from the sidelines and take action to make change. \nThe theme also reminds us that reconciliation and advancing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ rights isn’t a passive activity\, and it is not solely the responsibility of First Nations people\, who have carried the weight of championing\, explaining and acting for far too long. \nReconciliation will not happen by itself\, and it will not happen without all of us. \nThe #NRW2026 campaign was created in collaboration with Carbon Creative\, a First Nations-owned and operated marketing and creative agency. \nThe artwork for this campaign is by renowned Gumbaynggirr/Bundjalung artist Otis Hope Carey\, who applied his distinctive style to create a colourful and optimistic visual representation of people from all walks of life being ‘all in’ to make change. \n  \n \n  \n\n  \n \n  \n
