The lush World Heritage-listed rainforest of Nightcap National Park was preserved by a determined group of conservationists in the 1980’s. The Mt Nardi and Minyon Falls areas are easily accessible by car and offer breathtaking views.
The Nightcap National Park and Whian Whian State conservation Area are situated in far north-eastern NSW between Lismore & Murwillumbah. Together they encompass about 10,500 hectares of the Nightcap range. The parks are located on the southern rim of the Caldera of the Mt Warning shield volcano. the dominant massifs, sheer cliff walls, lush green gullies and spectacular waterfalls, which make up the parks, are relics of the area’s volcanic past.
You can camp at Rummery Park, in nearby Whian Whian State Conservation Area. (fees apply). From this grassy area, you can take a short walk beside Boggy Creek to the beautiful Minyon Falls, in Nightcap National Park. You can also go car touring or birdwatching, or just sit back and enjoy the peaceful camping experience. The campground is suitable for small caravans, and it has a communal cooking gallery and wheelchair-accessible toilets.
Getting there: The campground is 200m off the Minyon Drive, along Peates Mountain Road. Please note that the Peates Mountain Road link to Gibbergunyah Range Road is not suitable for caravan/camper trailer access.
Facilities: picnic tables, wood barbecues (bring your own firewood), fire rings (bring your own firewood), gas/electric barbecues, non-flush toilets
Water supply: Bringing your own water supply is recommended. The campground has a rainwater tank but water, if available, is not suitable for drinking
Fees apply camping here, usually $10 adult, $5 children which is updated annual. check details on National Parks website.
