14th July 2010- Tourism Officer for Kyogle Council, Malcolm Wallis and his volunteeer team are very happy with the recent news that they are a finalist in their nominated Category of ‘Visitor Information and Services’ in the North Coast Tourism Awards. Being a much smaller centre from their counterparts, (in operation just under 4 years) this is a hugh achievement for such an enthusiastic, dedicated and committed team.

A new partnership between the Tourism Managers Group of the Northern Rivers and Mid North Coast Tourism has been developed with the creation of the NORTH COAST TOURISM AWARDS 2010.

The North Coast Tourism Awards will recognise success, provide a benchmark for best practice within the tourism industry, promote business planning and encourage the continual raising of standards within the industry.
The new North Coast Tourism Awards are open to all tourism businesses from Port Stephens in the south to Tweed Heads in the north and west to the Great Dividing Range.
The Mid North Coast have hosted their own, highly successful regional awards for the past five years with tourism industry operators reaping the awards in both planning for success and receiving National recognition within the industry.
This is a fantastic opportunity for industry operators within the Northern Rivers to capitalise on this joint partnership, to re-build the awards within our region and to open up the competition to strengthen the submissions at a State and National level.
We are sure that there will be a healthy degree of competition amongst our rivals in the Mid North Coast. But a little competition never hurt anyone.
The Northern Rivers have not held regional tourism awards for the past five years
A Gala Awards Dinner will be held in Coffs Coast on 14th August 2010, to publicly recognise and showcase the North Coast’s finest tourism operators.

There were over 20 categories available for tourism businesses to enter, with the awards judged under the format of a written submission and onsite inspection-based competition. Winners of each category of the North Coast Tourism Awards will receive automatic entry for the NSW State Tourism Awards.
